Restaurants and Accommodations:

We recommend calling in advance to confirm the details printed in the book.

Check the Teudat Hechsher (Kosher Certificate) in the restaurant. It is common for restaurants to change their Rabbinic Certification. Updates will be announced on our website as we receive them, but we recommend verifying the Rabbinic Certification prior to reserving a meal at a restaurant.

2007-2008 in Israel is a Shmitta year, and there are different standards of Kashrut with regards to produce. Please confer with your own Rabbi to determine your guidelines.

Shabbat:

In Israel, it is traditional to light candles 20 or 40 minutes in advance of the actual start of Shabbat. Please double check the candle-lighting time specific for the area you will be in for Shabbat.

General Traveling Tips:

Make sure you have a signed, valid passport (and visas, if required). Also, before you go, fill in the emergency information page of your passport!

Make 2 copies of your passport identification page.
This will facilitate replacement if your passport is lost or stolen.
Leave one copy at home with friends or relatives. Carry the other with you in a separate place from your passport.

Reconfirm your flights at least 72 hours prior to departure. Make sure that your special meals are, as well, confirmed.

Remember that security is heightened and you should allow ample time for security checks before boarding.

Airlines have increased restrictions on luggage, including carry-ons, and they are strictly enforcing it.
Make sure you do not overpack!
